The World Drivers' Championship, which became the FIA Formula One World Championship in 1981, has been one of the dominant forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950. The word formula in the name refers to the set of rules to which all participating cars must conform.
The Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grand Prix, which take place around the world. Occurs in both purpose-built circuits and on closed public roads. Sky serves as the exclusive owner of F1 rights in the UK – its main TV outlet is the Sky Sports F1 channel which was launched in 2012 and brings every free practice session, qualifying and race live to its viewers.

It was "won" by Max Verstappen, who had qualified on pole, with a delighted George Russell in the Williams finishing behind him after a sensational lap on Saturday.
